Statement of Faith

Defending Christianity will be positively orthodox in its stand regarding the Scriptures, in their 66 canonical books, as being the only trustworthy and authoritative written revelation of God. All volunteers and those involved to any degree, be it with the Defending Christianity Podcast or the Defending Christianity Blog, agree upon the following Declaration of Faith:

1. The members of Defending Christianity declare their belief in God the Creator and Preserver of all things, who created man, male and female, in His own image, but that man sinned and thereby incurred physical death and spiritual death which is separation from God. (Genesis 1:26, Romans 5:12, Isaiah 59:2, Romans 6:23, Romans 3:23)

2. The members of Defending Christianity declare their belief in the deity and humanity of God the Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, who being fully God, also became fully man, being begotten by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, was crucified, dead, and buried and then was raised from the dead and ascended to the Father. (Matthew 1:18-23)

3. The members of Defending Christianity declare their belief in the deity and personhood of God the Holy Spirit, who convicts the individual sinner of sin, righteousness, and judgement and gives the ability to understand the gospel leading to repentance. (Romans 8:14-16, John 16:13, 2 Thessalonians 2:13)

4. The members of Defending Christianity declare their belief that the trinity of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit exist co-equally in unity. (John 14:16-17, Matthew 28:19, 2 Corinthians 13:14)

5. The members of Defending Christianity declare their belief that the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments as being inspired by God and therefore as being inerrant in the original writings and the supreme and final authority in faith and life. (2 Peter 1:20-21, 2 Timothy 3:16-17, Hebrews 4:12)

6. The members of Defending Christianity declare their belief that the sacrificial death of the Lord Jesus Christ was necessary to atone for the sinfulness and guilt of each person, who would otherwise be subject to God’s judgment and punishment. (Romans 5:8-9, Ephesians 2:8-9, 2 Corinthians 5:21, 1 Peter 3:18)

7. We believe in the bodily resurrection of Christ, His ascension to the right hand of the Father, His present work as High Priest and advocate, and His personal return in power and glory. (I Corinthians 15:3-4, Hebrews 4:14-16, I Thessalonians 4:16-17)

8. The members of Defending Christianity declare their belief in the human equality and essential dignity of men, women and children of all races, and ages. We recognize that all persons are made in the image of God and are to reflect that image through their giftedness in the community of believers and in society. (Genesis 1:26-28, 1 Corinthians 12:1-11)

9. The members of Defending Christianity declare their belief that each believer, by the working of the Holy Spirit through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, has been born as a new creation to an assurance of eternal salvation as a child of God. (John 1:12, Galatians 3:26, John 3:16)
